Hi all,
Need some help here. What is the recommended specification of the workstation that is needed to run a model in AutoMod smoothly? Cause currently, I running a model with more than 3000 points, it becomes laggy.
Thanks.
Best regards,

Need some more info. I assume you are talking about pathmover and not conveyor, correct? Also I further assume you are letting vehicles accumulate based on vehicle length.
If that is the case then turn off accumulation based on vehicle length and you will see a big speed increase.
Let us know if these assumptions are not correct.
thanks. _________________ John Gibbons

I not sure what you mean by vehicles accumulate based on vehicle length. Yes, I am working on pathmover and I am simulating on the operation of a fab. There are a lot of control points acting as loadports and storage points. With all these points present, whenever I tried to edit any one point, it takes several seconds to select it. Any idea what can be done to reduce this latency or do I increase the RAM of the PC? Currently, my workstation has 2GB RAM.
Thank you.

Go to path mover, system default. Toggle off Accumulate between control points
Other ideas: if your using Vr Graphics and have read in a large or many small dxf files from AutoCad turn them off and/or remove them from model once you have done what you needed to do with them. Also I think std graphics vs Vr Graphics uses memory better.
Hope that helps. _________________ John Gibbons

| I have similar problem and this is what I do to speed it up. Hopefully it help you too. On your desktop, right click and select properties; Click on Settings tab, and Click on Advance button; Click on Troubleshoot tab; On Hardware Acceleration slide the bar to NONE; then click OK. Try to readjust your point, see if it helps. |

Only other passing thought on subject is turn off graphic detail not needed. This means turns off direction arrows, transfers, extra text (pathnames), etc. I have seen this make a big impact on screen updates and mouse response. Let us know if your still having issues... _________________ John Gibbons

One quick fleeting thought, which you've probably already taken into account, is reducing the animation step at runtime: Controls>Animation Step.
You could try turning off syncronization and maybe use a 1 -2 second animation step. However, I've found that when i drop the sync and use a 1 second animation step, the model creates the appearance of laggyness even tho it's not lagging, the slow down of the animation creates the illusion of lag, even tho it performs better.
Also, on the Automod Maint user site, they have some computer recommendations, which are as follows:
Computer hardware recommendations:
*Most all new computers on the market today will run AutoMod and it's associated applications without problems.
CPU
Avoid Intel Celeron and AMD Duron processors. Speeds of 1500Mzh or more are highly desired.
Graphics
AutoMod presents no problems for most graphics card. However, workstation level graphics cards significantly improve model graphic performance
Random Access Memory (RAM)
256MB ram (minimum)
Storage
AutoMod requires < 300 Megabytes for a full install of the product.
Cheers,
